5 STAR STEAMY READ!!!

When I first started reading this book, I knew it was going to be different than anything I've read before. And I was so totally right.

First off, let me just tell you that the writing was incredible. The story in itself had me on the edge of my seat, but the writing was incredible. I was immediately sucked in by the Professor and the potential demons he hides behind the tough exterior. I've read a lot of books with tons of alpha, dominant men but I can guarantee you, Professor White was different. He made me realize that there is a lot of darkness in the world, but I found myself strangely being drawn to it, which made me crave more.

Tara was, in my opinion, an incredible character to follow along with. To watch how much dedication she was putting into preparing herself for the professor made me smile. I admired her drive and motivation to want to impress him. I saw a little of myself in her if I'm being completely honest here. She shows the same spitfire I want to show to somebody I care about one day.

On top of everything, this book was hot! Steamy hot and I normally shy away from the girl on girl scenes but those were hot as sin!! I very much enjoyed reading this book. I didn't want it to end! Lol! If you're looking for a quick, steamy, melt your panties read, then pick this one up! Then pick up book two because it's going to knock your socks off.

extremely hot erotic

This book was extremely erotic! Dead on the money for most of the actions. And extremely HOT... Fire Engine needed hot!

I have to say that the author's attention to detail made this story that much more enjoyable. From what a room looked like to what the person looked like. Which allowed this story to be truly built into ones head as they are reading.

From school classroom to their homes.. to some slight lock picking. From tied up under a desk to a bathroom gushing this is one well written story. But the downside is it did end in a cliff hanger which by all rights I Absolutely hate!

Wow! What a great beginning to a series. I was hooked from page one and couldn't put it down! I loved how Chance used the classic schoolgirl scenario, but made it much darker and edgier than what you normally find. Tara is a gorgeous, intriguing main character and Professor White is the perfect strong, sexy, male lead. The dialogue is very entertaining, the story moves quickly, and the erotic scenes are unbelievably hot! I would definitely recommend this book and can't wait to read the next.

About the Author
Will Jordan initially wanted to be an actor and while working as an extra, he was cast as a World War II soldier in a feature film. After being put through military bootcamp and taught how to handle weapons for his role, he decided to do further research and soon fell in love with works of military history. He then turned his hand to writing and, in order to shape his first thriller, visited weapon ranges all over America and eastern Europe, becoming something of an arms expert.

A great military thriller...

Sacrifice sees the return to action of Ryan Drake- our tough guy hero with the soft centre- in another fast-paced adventure to satisfy any fan of the military or conspiracy thriller. Opening with the spectacular shooting down of a helicopter in war torn Afghanistan, ferrying a particularly important American operative, Drake and his team are despatched to deal with the aftermath and to track down the missing agent kidnapped from the crash site. It soon becomes clear to Drake and his team that shady forces are at work and that this mission is nowhere near as straightforward as it seems, leading to some pretty impressive altercations and an adrenaline fuelled race for the truth...

Once again, Jordan thrusts the reader straight into the harsh terrain and bleak surroundings of an active war-zone, perfectly capturing the heat and starkness of Afghanistan. As in Redemption, Jordan never allows the reader to lose sight of the location and atmosphere which underpins the action throughout. Likewise, the same level of detail regarding the actions of the Army and Black-Ops outfits is absolutely perfect, and Jordan's inherent knowledge of military hardware pepper the story educating the reader but without becoming too know-it-all, while other writers in this genre find this a difficult balance to achieve. As regards plotting, the story unfolds at a pace and I liked the setting up of Drake against a former nemesis and also the reappearance of a rather striking character from the first book that unsettles our hero. Although the plot plays out in a rather similar way to the first book, this didn't overly concern me as having read many McNabs and Ryans, there is a distinct similarity generally in this genre, but Jordan has an added weapon in his arsenal...

I think what sets Jordan apart from his military thriller counterparts, is that not only does he have a charismatic but utterly focused professional soldier as his central character, who is appealing to both genders, but that once again there is a brilliant balance with female characters who pack a punch, but do not become overly stereotyped. There are three such characters in this book, who not only provide a good foil to their macho counterparts, but are well drawn enough that their characters are balanced between their professional or rogue roles, while still retaining their essential sense of femininity alongside their kick-ass doggedness. In my wide reading of this genre, I have not encountered a male author yet with such convincing female characters who does not resort to stereotypes, so thumbs up for Jordan on that one!

Another assured book in this compelling series then, with thrills, spills and skulduggery at the highest levels of the US security departments. Packed with high-octane action scenes and perfectly placed militaristic detail there is much to entertain any reader of this genre. Only question is- what will Ryan Drake become embroiled in next?

Great book with lots of action.

This book was great. The author has a lot going for him. His first book in the series, Redemption, was good but this is even better. What makes this author good is his ability to describe things in such a way that you can actually picture that location. In this book his description of Afghanistan really made you feel like you could see through his eyes. He is also great at describing action and battle scenes. I have read a lot of action thrillers but his descriptions are some of the best I have run across. He is also not afraid of losing characters, and in doing so, you feel emotional about the loss. This guy really knows how to write and I appreciate is style.

I loved this dries. I actually started with the 3rd book not knowing this was a series. I then went back and read 1 and 2. All 3 were great! They are riveting, suspenseful and you just don't want to put them down. I really felt like I was right there living the action with them. I would hight recommend all 3 of the Ryan Drake series.

Layli Miller Bashir, a second-year law student assigned to Fauziya's case, found a broken, emaciated girl who had been shuffled from prison to prison, was suffering from an untreated bleeding ulcer, had been subjected to several strip searches, and denied the right to follow her daily religious practices. She enlisted law professor, Karen Musalo, an expert in refugee law, who assembled a team to fight on Fauziya's behalf. Fauziya was finally granted asylum on 13 June 1996, a landmark decision.

A complicated read but well intentioned

Perhaps it is the way the author writes, but I found this book hard to follow at several points, due to the introduction of new people mentioned, and new events mentioned. I think that her story was extremely sad, depressing, and moving. I came to learn more about a country I had previously knew nothing about and about practices of sub-saharan cases of FGM. I think its a fascinating case of an individuals struggle to escape the horrors of FGM and arranged marriages. So many of stories told about atrocities done against women and girls everywhere rarely highlight the individual from a group perspective. It makes me feel even more grateful and humble to live in a country where there are far more barriers to protect women and girls than in the authors country of Togo.

One of my all time favorite books. Incredibly captivating, moving, and informative. A must read for everyone - especially anyone interested in immigration law, asylum, FGM (female genital mutilation), and the inhumane treatment of humans in some of America's prisons during the 1990's.

Grade 5 Up Ever since his family moved to the tiny village of Los Árboles, Victor has been best friends with Rico. When Rico tells him that he has enough money to pay for a coyote to help him cross into El Norte, Victor is unable to decide if he, too, should go along and look for work or try to feed his family with the pitiful annual corn harvest. The decision is made for him the next day when he discovers that the corn prices have bottomed out and that there is no point in even planting this year. Readers suffer with the 15-year-old as he makes his painful decision to leave his mother and younger siblings and attempts the dangerous border crossing, jumping trains, fleeing thieves and border officials, and suffering from thirst and hunger. His desperation and fear are completely believable as he faces near-death situations and must decide whom to trust. The author deftly weaves information concerning the local geography and customs into the plot. The story is well paced, sustaining readers' attention throughout. Pair this novel with Ann Jaramillo's La Línea (Roaring Brook, 2006) for another fictional view of young people crossing the border between the U.S. and Mexico. No longer able to grow corn profitably in his Mexican village, 15-year-old Victor, who has supported his family since his father's death, resolves to go to El Norte: "It's time for me to do what men from our village have to do." Lacking the money to secure a guide, he ventures to a border town to wait his chance in the "whirlpool" of recent deportees, newcomers, and grizzled mojados ("wetbacks"). Successive attempts find him trekking through mountains and desert, fleeing la migra, and unwittingly becoming entangled with ruthless drug traffickers. Hobbs' effort to show a broad view of the border-crossing experience, often by incorporating the hard-luck tales of Victor's acquaintances, results in a story arc that occasionally feels artificial. But the questions raised here are provocative and worthwhile ("Are [Americans] willing to pick the fruits and the vegetables to fill their grocery stores?"), and the propulsive adventure-and-survival elements will keep Hobbs' core audience hooked. Timely and insightful story

Read this book because it was assigned to my son for his summer reading program. What a great story! It should generate lively discussion in his freshman class about immigration. The story of Victor and his friend, Rico, trying to make their way across the boarder is compelling especially given their ages. Hobbs paints a descriptive picture of the Mexican border and their many trials and tribulations....fascinating stuff and definitely recommended.

What I liked was that Victor and Rico went to cross the border between the two countries Mexico and the United States of America to send home to there family money and how Rico went back in return to see his parents. I think that my family and friends should read this book because I think that they would like it like me .

Mr. Hobbs has used vivid imagery to recreate this suspenseful , and at times a graphic tale of a 15year old, Mexican boy's illegal trek across the U.S. border. He encounters mules, coyotes, and many helpful yet wise travel companions. He learns about life along his arduous journey as he strives to fulfill his goal to feed his family in Silao, Mexico.
